Len Berman '89 P21, Board of Directors

I am a proud member of a multi-generational, Jewish Princeton family.  My father, Lawrence, is a Class of ’59 alumnus; my wife, Lori Zeltser, and I graduated in 1989; and this fall, our son Sam will be a freshman. Our family has a long-standing commitment to Princeton’s Jewish community. My father was an active member of Princeton’s Jewish community and subsequently served on Hillel’s Board. As a student, I served as a Hillel officer and ate often at Stevenson Hall.  I have been an Honorary Trustee and member of the CJL Board of Directors for the past 6 years. Most important, I made the most meaningful connection in my life at Princeton– it is where I met Lori.

We are grateful that the CJL exists as the gateway to Jewish life for hundreds of students at Princeton.  I visit campus several times each year for CJL Board meetings. Whenever I walk into the building, I find students sitting in the Green Room talking, laughing and sometimes studying. I walk downstairs and there is davening.  In the Dining Hall, delicious kosher food and spirited conversation is being shared. CJL is truly the place where Jewish students find, grow and enjoy being Jewish however it suits them.

We are thrilled to have the next generation of the Berman family beginning a Jewish journey at Princeton.  As long-time supporters of Hillel, we want to ensure that current and future students, like Sam, continue to have the many wonderful opportunities to connect with Judaism and Jewish life offered through the CJL.
