REST – REFLECT- RECHARGE
CJL is excited to announce this new project where each week, Shabbat programming will focus on a different dimension of wellness highlighted in Princeton University's UMatter Wellness Wheel. The objectives of this program are:
- Students will feel encouraged and supported to take time on Shabbat to rest, reflect and recharge, and to explore the connections between Jewish tradition and practice and the different dimensions of wellness.
- Students who participate in the activities each week will recognize the value and interconnectedness of all dimensions of wellness, and will feel supported in fostering lifelong wellness practices.
- Students who participate in this initiative will gain knowledge of existing campus resources to support their physical, emotional and social well-being.
- Students who participate in this initiative will feel less alone on Shabbat, even when they are by themselves.
Over the course of seven weeks, students will receive readings and activities addressing the following topics: Social Wellness; Spiritual Wellness; Occupational Wellness; Environmental Wellness; Physical Wellness; Emotional Wellness; and Intellectual Wellness. The readings will be both from Jewish sources as a text-based study and scientific or cultural sources.
We invite you and your family to participate in CJL’s Shabbat Wellness Initiative wherever you are. Materials distributed to date are available at the links below. We will add new resources each Wednesday that you are invited to download and use. We hope you enjoy participating in this project.
