She has worked as an economist at the Accountant General, Ministry of Finance for the past 7.5 years.
Engu has extensive experience working and guiding young adults. In high school she was a counselor in the 'Madatzim' youth movement, where she guided groups of teenagers, and also in the summer camp at her neighborhood community center. At the age of 18, she was chosen to be part of a delegation to meet with donors at the New York Federation. After the army, she was a counselor at 2 Jewish summer camps in Pennsylvania & Canada.
Engu strongly believes in creating social change through contribution and social programs. While she was a graduate student she founded a social initiative called "Intellect On Bar", an entrepreneurship program aimed at introducing young people from the Ethiopian community to successful role models in the Ethiopian community. The young people fostered connections and interpersonal relationships with the role models, while meeting weekly at the bar. Engu also volunteered for several years at "ProWoman" - a female empowerment organization.
Engu is enthusiastic for her upcoming journey to meet, learn with, and get to know the students at CJL. She is looking forward to sharing her personal story and engaging with all students to learn their story as well.
